THINGS TO COME

Sometimes my brain works overtime with too many causes or projects that I would like to involve myself in.

At this moment I am really considering adding a section about life in México with all its pros and cons.  Since I have lived here for almost eleven years I feel I can offer some valuable information to those that might be considering a move to another country in order to have a less expense life style.  It seems that life in the U. S. is becoming more hectic every day especially for anyone that has a fixed income.  Believe me I know since I moved back three years ago and discovered it was necessary to have a job to make ends meet and more importantly, a car. Most of the time its, no car no job.  Getting around in the U. S. is done in the most part by auto especially in the outlying areas.  The only place you can get away without a car is in some metropolitan area.  I am too lazy to try the public transportation bit since it involves living your life around their schedules and I do not have the patience to wait for them to be on time.  The main point is you lose your independence when it comes to doing things on someone elses schedule.  The worst of all was the car insurance which cost me more than the car payment mainly because I guess I am considered an old fart, plus I was out of country for ten years which apparently almost took me off the list. Boca Raton is also considered a very high risk area.  Route 95 has deaths and accidents from Miami to West Palm every day of the week.  People drive like idiots.  Courtesy and common sense have gone out the window as well as the total lack of concern for the safety of themselves and others.  I had no credit and almost was unable to purchase a vehicle.  I was fast, understanding the way someone must feel when they arrive in America for the first time on the boat.

When I returned three years ago to the U. S., I moved to Florida which made it necessary to change my driver´s license to that state.  Going to the Motor Vehicle Dept., I was met with: "I need your passport".  On questioning the official why he stated that there are around fifteen states that require a passport to renew in Florida.  This all happened as a result of 9/11 I guess.  Anyway, I asked the official if they had designated New Jersey as another country.  He was not exactly amused, but insisted that I produce it if I wanted to do the transaction.  OK, back to house to get it and return to the DMV.  Another hour of waiting in line and I was greeted with: "I need our Social Security card".  I replied: "Well I can give you the number, I do not have the card with me. Why can´t I just give you the number.  Look it up on the computer.  It must be in the system".  She promptly replied; "I need the card".  That settled it, back to the house again to look for my ORIGINAL (believe it or not) card that I received when I was just twelve years old.  In my entire life no one has ever asked for the card.  It was pure luck that I have managed to save that important document.  Most anything else I have valued is gone with the wind after moving around so many times.  Long story short:  I did manage to return for the third time to the DMV and got my cherished CDL license reinstated in Florida.

Needless to say, I am back in good ole México, back where a car is not a necessity, where life is Mañana.

I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN KNOWING IF THERE IS ANY INTEREST IN MY IDEA ABOUT MEXICO WHICH I CALL:
