It appears to me that the entire world is, indeed, a mess. The news is a continual flow of conflicts, aggressions and people at war with their neighbors and even amongst themselves. The most mind boggling aspect of all this that too many of these struggles are done in the name of religion, something that, to my way of thinking, is incomprehensible.

There are many who devote their lives to reading the scriptures and others who run around quoting them, many times to impress their audience when in fact, their actions belie their mouthings.

What happened to just abiding by the Golden Rule? This one simple rule, regardless of your religious upbringing, covers it all. Strict adherence and application of this rule in daily life could be the answer to most of the ills in this world. Think about it!

But that is unrealistic you say. I have been accused more than once of being unrealistic and living in a dream world and also of being a non-conformist. Maybe so, but what is real and what is fantasy is formulated in your mind. Before any action can be implemented it has to be, first, a conscious thought, whether the thought comes from an outside source or from your own earthshaking realization. The next step is to do it. Children, when being punished for not doing one thing or another, predictably will reply, “I can´t”. My reply was always: “there is no such thing as can´t. There is only, don´t want to or won´t”.

Please do not be that child.
